We will Remember

Posted by JonC on October 27, 2015

We will be taking part in the Whitehaven Remembrance Sunday commemorations on Sunday 8 November.

We will be parading with Veterans, serving members of the Armed Forces, local cadet units, and members of the public to remember those who have served in the defence of our country.

Please try to make a special effort to attend, we’ve received very positive comments in the last couple of years about the number of young people representing the Group and we would like to see a strong show of support this year.

The parade will assemble outside the Copeland Centre on Catherine Street (behind Morrisons). Please arrive by 10.15 so that we can take our place with the other organisations taking part. From Catherine Street we will parade to the Cenotaph in Castle Park for a short service, 2 minutes silence and wreath laying. The parade will then reform and march through town. Parents and brothers/ sisters are welcome to watch or join-in the parade with the general public.

It will probably be cold so please make sure you’ve put on suitable layers (t-shirt/thermal top) under your uniform to stay warm – unless it’s raining heavily we would like you to be displaying your uniform on parade. (If it is raining heavily, please bring a waterproof coat.)

In summary – meet outside the council offices on Catherine Street for 10:15. Dress smartly in uniform and wear a poppy if you have one.

If you have any questions, please speak to your leader.
