Cuckura!

Posted by JonC on July 19, 2014

If you heard some strange "bird calls" round Derwent Water this weekend, it was probably our Scouts!

If you heard the strange call of the Cukura around Derwent Water on Saturday, you were probably close to some of our exotic Scouts out on a hike!  9 Scouts from 1st Hensingham braved the forecast and got the early morning launch from Keswick to Hawse End to hike up Cat Bells.

Somehow we managed to avoid most of the morning rain and the summit provided the perfect backdrop to invest two new members of Skiddaw Troop.  Lunch in one of our new bothy shelters proved a good decision as the heavens opened between sandwiches and cake!  Lunch, and downpour, over we found 6 geocaches on our way back down to the Lake. With a bit of time before the launch back to Keswick there was just time for a bit of swimming and diving off the jetty before a mad dash to get changed before the boat tied up!

Ice creams and bottles of coke back on shore finished off a great day out.
